Product Info

The Scott Contessa Ransom 910 Complete Mountain Bike combines 170mm of travel with a dual lock-out suspension system to make at least three ripping bikes in one. You can start your fire road climb on a fully rigid bike that's stiff and responsive, light, and precise. As you start riding singletrack your bike becomes a 120mm trail bike that'll perform like your favorite XC racer. When you've summited and it's time to descend, another flick of the switch opens up all that glorious travel, giving you DH stability as you mash down for another lap. The Ransom has always been as versatile as you can get, and this latest model is another big step forward. A sublime design.

Product Details

Frame/Shock

Ransom Carbon HMX Frame with Alloy SL SwingarmThe stiffest, burliest bike in the Scott line, the Ransom is very lightweight but refuses to skimp on strength. It has a low center of gravity, 170mm of travel, and a carbon layup that optimizes weight savings and durability.

TwinLoc Suspension SystemWith TwinLoc, a rider can effectively control the complete frame, fork, and shock as a system. Why does this matter? A bike with 150mm of suspension travel, correctly set up, has more sag than a bike with 130mm. It's that extra travel that makes it more fun to ride and more capable on the descents, but the greater sag has an oversized effect on the bike's geometry and climbing performance. That's where TwinLoc matters. Via a handlebar remote, you can choose from three bikes in one!

Fox NUDE TR EVOL Rear ShockWhat the TR allows you to do is to select what sort of progression you would like in Descend mode: more linear, or more progressive. By flipping the Ramp Adjust Lever, you can decide how your shock behaves while descending. A more linear shock gives a rider the same amount of support throughout a shock's travel. The suspension is supple throughout, and is "easier" to reach the end of the travel, or "bottom out."

Evo-Lap Carbon TechnologyThanks to this extensive computer modeling, Scott optimized the carbon layers in all the parts of the frame. When the parts were bonded together in the first prototypes, the result was a super light and compact frame without sacrificing the stiffness, comfort or impact resistance. This allows them to make the most efficient layup possible.

Virtual 4Link DesignThe Scott suspension kinematic brings perfect balance and control to the platform. Using Virtual Four Link design, they have honed their suspension feel, pedaling, and braking response to work with maximum efficiency and in harmony with the TwinLoc Suspension System. The kinematic suspension curve gives supple small bump sensitivity and therefore exceptional traction characteristics, perfect support in the mid-stroke and a controlled deep stroke for predictable and comfortable bottom outs. Specific pivot placements ensures efficient pedaling that drives the bike forwards like a startled greyhound and neutral braking that strikes a perfect balance between rider comfort and control, chassis stability and rear wheel traction.

Easy Wheel Size ChangesNo need to change the fork, all you need to do is flip a shock mount chip, change your wheels and off you go. The flip chip allows you to maintain a similar BB height when switching from one wheel size to the other which is key to keeping handling similar for both wheel sizes.

ICCR Cable RoutingRouting the cables internally omits bulky external hardware and looks cleaner. The cables can endure a longer lifetime as they are protected within the frame. The entry points are machined alloy removable inserts that come along with the frame and can be chosen according to the setup of the bike. Assembling an electronic group or a dropper post will not be a problem and the look will always be clean-cut.

RideLoc RemoteThis lever can lock out your fork for climbs and maximum efficiency.

DT Swiss Thru AxleWorking together with DT Swiss, Scott completely revisited the shape of the thru-axle lever to make it more ergonomic and to perfectly fit their frames.

Drive Train

SRAM GX EagleGX Eagle is your partner for all rides, all the time, all day. Long days, quick rides and everything in-between, GX Eagle is the ecosystem at its best. With the all new 520% range, all new colourways and seamless compatibility with the rest of the ecosystem, GX Eagle is there to maximize the potential of your ride experience.

Brakes

Shimano XT 4-PistonThe system adopts a power transfer system in which the disc brake rotor is pressed by the smaller sized piston at the entrance of the disc brake rotor intake and also by the more powerful larger sized piston at the back. This prevents the wobbling motion of the disc brake rotor and reduces noises significantly. The 4-piston caliper also allows a wider contact area for the disc brake rotor while keeping the size compact, and the efficient location of pads is adjusted as necessary to stabilize the pressure.

Wheelset

Syncros Revelstoke 2.0 30mm WheelsDesigned for enduro and trail use, these rims are tough enough to handle all-day punishment without failing deep in the backcountry while staying lightweight enough to accelerate with the lunch ride crew.

Maxxis Dissector Rear TireDesigned in conjunction with Aussie DH racer Troy Brosnan, the Dissector seeks to minimize drag while retaining cornering control.

Maxxis Assegai Front TireThe Maxxis Assegai tire is named after the iron-tipped spear used by the Zulu people of South Africa. Greg Minnaar, a native of South Africa, thought it was a fitting name for a tire ready to do battle on the mountain. The tall knobs punch through dust and loam to find traction, but also offer support and confidence on wet roots and rocks. While other tires excel only in certain conditions, the new Maxxis Assegai is built to go fast everywhere.
