Anon WM3 Goggles

This goggle is fantastic in all conditions! It has a really wide field of vision for a goggle with a cylindrical lens that is more flat and has a normal view rather than the “fisheye” lens effect of a spherical lens. I was originally a little worried that the Perceive Sunny Red lens wasn’t going to be dark enough for really bright days since it wasn’t as dark or mirrored as goggles I have owned previously. But the primary sun lens was fantastic all day long, even when it was super sunny and bright out! I swapped to the bonus low light lens when it was snowing and for night skiing. The low light lens gave great clarity and definition of the snow in poor light conditions. Fully magnetic lenses with no latch or release made for a super easy transition from lens to lens without even taking my gloves off which I appreciated so much on some days where temps were in the negatives. Overall, this goggle is my new favorite and I think that it is definitely one to consider for someone seeking a new pair!

Bottom Line

Great goggle for all conditions. Huge field of vision and easy magnetic lens swap, as well as two lenses to cover all levels of light quickly made them my favorite pair of goggles yet!

POC Meninx RS MIPS Helmet

I've been wearing the POC Meninx RS MIPS this season. The style initially caught my eye (the ABS shell looks like a cross between a standard freeride and full-on race helmet) but the premium construction, comfortable fit, and extra safety features are what keep me reaching for it. The helmet feels solid and substantial, as the outer ABS shell covers two different protective foams (EPS and EPP). The included MIPS technology, integrated RECCO reflector, and NFC medical ID chip add an additional layer of protection. Another area where the Meninx RS excels is comfort and temperature regulation ability. The BOA adjuster allows you to dial in a precise fit, and the earpads are cushioned in a way that they cup your ears instead of pressing against them. They are also removable for those warmer days. Coupled with the 28 circular vents up top (that can be either 1/2 or fully closed - and the two closable vents at the front of the helmet - you have a ton of versatility in finding that right comfort level. Real world example: A few weeks ago at Mt. Hood Meadows, we were experiencing wind gusts strong enough to close most of the lifts. By fully closing the top and front vents, I felt completely protected from the elements. While I've loved the helmet, I recognize it may not be the best choice for everyone: 1. Style is subjective. 2. The helmet's integrated RECCO reflector and a medical ID NFC chip are features that folks venturing out into the backcountry would likely find the most value in. Due to the weight of the helmet, I think this would be better for an individual who primarily stays within the resort, but occasionally ventures into the touring realmm, as opposed to a dedicated touring helmet. 3. While the earpads are some of the most comfortable I've worn and leave plenty of room for audio buds, they are not compatible with the drop in audio pucks. If any of the above aren't dealbreakers for you, I'd recommend giving the Meninx RS MIPS a look!

Bottom Line

The POC Meninx RS MIPS helmet is packed with safety and convenience features in a competitively priced package. If you're looking for a premium helmet and you value comfort, quality construction and sporty styling, it shouldn't be overlooked.

Giro Envi MIPS Helmet - Women’s & Giro Contour RS Goggles

The helmet was really comfortable and lightweight, super easy to put on and forget it's there. The Polartec Power Grid Padding creates a comfortable cushioning that pulls moisture away from my skin and dries quickly, keeping me warm and dry throughout the day. As someone who runs cold but doesn't like overly thick padding, this feature is ideal. The adjustable vents also give a nice flexibility for ventilation on varying temp days. My favorite part about the helmet is how protected it makes me feel without feeling too bulky. It offers the security I want without compromising comfort. This is a great fit for someone that wants the protection of a well-performing helmet without too much weight to it. The goggles fit seamlessly with the helmet. The Triple-Layer Face Foam with Microfleece Facing made for a comfortable snug contact around my face that left zero gapping but not too much pressure. The lenses are really easy to swap on the go and never blurred or fogged throughout the day. They offered a clear view, fit comfortably and looked great. One of my favorite parts about the goggle is the EXV+ Frameless Design which provides a superior peripheral vision view compared to previous goggles I've used.

Bottom Line

The helmet and goggles combined gave me a lightweight setup that left me feeling protected, seeing clearly and ready to shred.

Oyuki Sencho GORE-TEX Gloves

They feel great and they fit my hands very well. The leather was a touch stiff at the beginning but got softer after just a few days. The leather with Gore-Tex membrane can feel pretty thick, but it doesn’t affect the grip. I’m a boarder and a skier, and it has never been an issue to grab my poles or tighten my bindings. The Primaloft insulation layer makes them by far the warmest gloves I’ve ever tried. During the very cold days in Canada my hands have never been cold. The Velcro strap is really thin, and super easy to slide under your jacket sleeve - and that is a very good feature!

Bottom Line

Totally waterproof and crazy warm. They have everything you need to handle the severe weather conditions of the North Shore.

Oyuki MAAD GORE-TEX Mitt - Women's

The MAAD Mitts were a little bulkier than what I am used to but didn't hinder hand function. The wrist fits easily under jacket cuff and velcro strap is easy to tighten or loosen as needed. My favorite feature is the individual finger slots that provide the feelings of a glove but the warmth of a mitten. Only downside is if you like wearing a glove liner, it can be a little snug with the finger slots. The fit was a little difficult for me due to the layout of the thumb stitching and space between the fingers which required me to have to go up a size normal than what I wear. I'd suggest going up a size.

Bottom Line

Overall, the MAAD Mitt is high quality and I enjoyed the features but as with any glove/mitten, I would suggest trying on if you can to make sure you are in the right size.
