The Birkenstock Mayari Birkibuc Vegan Sandals hold the big toe in high regard — such high regard that they have a toe loop reserved for only the big toe. The cork footbeds mold to your feet as only a Birkenstock can while the Birkibuc straps look and feel as good as real leather. These wonderful sandals use all vegan materials.
Vegan Materials
Anatomically Shaped Cork-Latex Footbed
Birkibuc™ Upper – Made of acrylic and polyamide felt fibers, this material offers a textured finish that looks and feels like velvety nubuck.
Microfiber Insole – Microfibers are a very fine synthetic fibers that are extremely soft and shape-retentive. Because they are free of animal products they are used as the covering material for the lining of footbeds in vegan products, among other things.
Cork Footbed – Cork is a sustainable material extracted from the bark layer of the cork oak. This natural product is insulating and offers very good cushioning.
EVA Outsole – EVA (ethylene vinyl acetate) is a high-quality, very light, elastic material with extremely good cushioning. As a result, it smooths out slight irregularities in the floor and ensures that every step is softly cushioned.
Toe Grip – There are raised indentations at the front footbed near the toes. Thanks to the toe grip the toes remain loose and spread out in their natural position. The indentations also support the natural rolling motion of the toes.
Transverse Arch Support – The support that runs through the middle of the footbed stabilizes the metatarsal bone. In this way, the transverse arch support helps ensure that the foot has a naturally straight and solid stance.
Deep Heel Cup – The very deep molding in the heel area supports the foot tissue and holds the heel bone firmly in it's natural position. This provides the foot with nearly as much support when it is in a sandal as when it is in a closed shoe.
Footbed Edge – The footbed is drawn up especially high at the front. As a result, the high footbed edge protects the toes during the rolling motion of the foot.
Interior and Exterior Longitudinal Arch Supports – The arch supports that run alongside the side of the footbed surrounding the tarsal bones inside and out. This gives the foot the stability it needs when it takes a step.
Heel Mould – Activates the calf muscles, stabilizes the back of the foot and improves gait and coordination.
