Mountain Overview

Silver Star Ski Area

There are four main areas at Silver Star. The Atridge area off of the Alpine Meadows chairlift has terrain rated for all ability levels, most of the runs here are groomed, apart form the couple gladed runs. This is the smallest part of the mountain.

The Summit chair from the village, or the Comet Express below the village both access the Vance Creek area, and the tallest peak at Silver Star. Here there are more beginner, intermediate, and advanced cruisers. The runs here are longer than Atridge, and can drop all the way down below the village to the Silver Woods area. Traversing all the way out from the top of the Comet Express to the skier’s left, the Deer Park trees can be pretty fun.

The Back Side Putman Creek area at Silver Star is full of advanced and expert terrain. On a powder day it is hard to go wrong here. All of the terrain is below treeline, meaning that visibility is not an issue. The farther you traverse to either side of the lift, the longer powder lasts after a snowstorm. Traversing all the way to the skier’s left there is some unpatrolled sidecountry terrain at Alder Point. It is accessed by a short hike. Make sure to be prepared with avalanche gear and a proper sense of direction before taking the hike.

Silver Star Conditions & Weather Information

Silver Star has pretty good weather throughout the winter. The 275”+ of average annual snowfall isn’t the biggest in British Columbia, in fact, however, there are still plenty of powder days throughout the year. All of the terrain is below treeline, which means there is now open and exposed skiing and snowboard, but also that all of the terrain is skiable even when visibility is poor.
