Okemo Skiing & Snowboarding Resort Guide
Okemo has the largest vertical drop, 2,200’, of the ski and snowboard areas in southern Vermont’s Green Mountains. Of the 610 skiable acres, 95% are covered by snowmaking, giving Okemo some of the best and most consistent snow coverage throughout the winter. Lots of great intermediate cruising, beginner learning areas, and some advanced glades and trees make the mountain great for skiers and snowboarders of all ability levels. Okemo’s southern Vermont location is also easy to get to for skiers and snowboarders from throughout Boston, Albany, and the northeast.
Okemo has two main base areas, each of which access some great skiing and snowboarding terrain for all abilities. There is a great beginner learning areas at the main Clock Tower Base Area, with two quad chairlifts. More confident beginners can als explore all over the mountain, even all the way up to the Summit of Okemo. There are some long beginner cruiser runs from the summit down to the skier’s left.
Intermediate skiers and snowboarders have plenty of options at Okemo, too, with 37% of the terrain rated intermediate. The Sunburst Six lift, as well as the Green Ridge Triple accesses a lot of these runs that descend to the Solitude Express Quad.
Advanced skiers and snowboarders will find fun riding all over Okemo. The Glades Peak Quad and South Face Express are good places to head, with some of the best tree skiing and snowboarding, as well as some of the steepest terrain at Okemo. The Jackson Gore Base Area, on the far skier’s left side of Okemo has more advanced terrain. This part of the mountain can feel somewhat secluded, and can be a nice escape from the busier parts of the mountain.

Okemo Mountain Resort itself offers eight difference lodging properties, with even more in the surrounding region. At the mountain, the lodging is spread between the different base areas, as well as Southface Village, which operates as a third base. Most of these properties are condo styles, with hotel options available in the Jackson Gore Village. The town of Ludlow is the closest town to Okemo, there is more lodging available here and in the greater Okemo Valley.

Okemo has a little bit of everything as far as dining goes, from cafes to sit down restaurants. Base 68 at the Clock Tower Base Lodge is a nice place to grab a bite for breakfast, or head to the famous Waffle Cabin on the mountain at the Jackson Gore Village. Okemo has a very fun and lively apres ski scene, the Loft Tavern is a favorite for burgers and beers, while the nachos are the go-to at the Sitting Bull Bar.

Okemo lift tickets are averagely priced compared to the other large southern Vermont ski and snowboard resorts, Killington and Mount Snow.
