When it comes to ski and snowboard gear, there’s no piece of gear quite so important, and quite so overlooked as the humble mitten. The best ski & snowboard mittens are the ones you never notice because they just do their job so well. They’ll keep your hands and fingers warm, but allow them to breathe well enough that they won’t get clammy or sweaty. Good mittens should offer enough dexterity that you can accomplish simple adjustments without taking them off, but should also offer some hand protection in case you smack a tree. In short, the best ski mittens should do a lot for you, without requiring much in return.
Luckily, a few brands are making awesome mittens that check all of those boxes. And we’ve compiled those mittens here. New for this year, the best snowboard mittens don’t have to be boring anymore. More brands are offering fun and interesting color options to switch things up and match the rest of your kit. So treat your hands and buy new mittens this year, you won’t regret it.
As the Hestra Heli Mittens' name suggests, these puppies are down to get really, really radical. Take them out for all sorts of shred that involves copious amounts of snow. These supple, warm, and dry mittens provide the technical protection often required on peaks and in wet weather. These Hestra Heli Mittens are ready to shreddy! They’re warm, comfortable, and durable - everything a mitten should be.

Hi! My name is Jen and while growing up in the very cold Midwest, I didn’t have much experience in the snow apart from sledding and building your classic snowman. Eventually, after college, I migrated my way out to Utah. There I stepped on the snow on skis for the first time at the young age of 27. The first experience being at Alta, doing a complete yard sale under the Collins lift on my first run. Stubborn me didn’t give up. I soon after got a job at Snowbird where I grew to love the sport and learned to love the mountains in the wintertime as much as I do in the summer.
My winter passion didn’t change upon moving to the PNW where I call Seattle my home. I started with evo 6 years ago and have been a buyer for several categories, one of which currently includes the snow accessories category. Come to me if you want to talk about helmets, goggles, gloves, and more.
